RAMIN KARIMLOO PODCAST 'THE HANG' FEATURING SIERRA BOGGESS, PHANTOM AND LOVE NEVER DIES

Original Love Never Dies West End lead and former Phantom Ramin Karimloo has been podcasting his own show with lovely interviews with fellow actors and singers and recently posted a collaboration he recorded with original West End Christine, Sierra Boggess. You can hear them discuss and walk down memory lane as they remember their experience during the 25th Phantom of the Opera Anniversary and the West End Love Never Dies run. 

This podcast gives you a front row seat to inside conversations between Ramin Karimloo and his guests. In the world of theatrical performers, Ramin Karimloo is known as one of the most formidable talents in the industry. Heralded for his portrayal of leading roles Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Karimloo is a musical force unlike any other. In fact, it was his unbridled reputation that led to his performance in the recent Oscar tribute to Les Misérables.

Ramin has posted PART 1 & PART 2 of his collaboration with Sierra Boggess, you can listen to both Podcasts here! Part 2, in Sierra's words: "This time we really dive into POTO [and Love Never Dies]". They both reaffirm how they would love to reprise their past roles again, as they feel ready to do so, and we couldn't be happier about that! We are going to highlight two bits of the podcast (although you really should listen to them in full if you love Phantom, Love Never Dies, Ramin and Sierra!). The first one is a fun fact. At the end of the original West End cast recording, you can hear Sierra Boggess delivering a Meg line, after the gunshot: "No, I didn't mean to!" Sierra remarks: "They said they'd fix it, but then it never got fixed!"  Have you ever noticed? Now, we'll never be able to listen to that sentence the same way!

And the question we've all been asking: Would Sierra and Ramin perform their characters, again, in a Love Never Dies production? This is what they have to say:

Now, has that ever come across you again to do? 

[Sierra]

Love Never Dies? Yeah, back when the Tour was happening, it was gonna open in such a grand way, but then everything, everything changed.

[Ramin]

So would you like to do that part again?

[Sierra]

I want to do it with you, on Broadway.

[Ramin]

You think it's ever gonna go to Broadway?

[Sierra]

I've no idea, who knows anymore? You know what I'd love to do? In the afternoon you'd do Phantom, and in the evening you'd do Love Never Dies.

I think they should double cast it like that! That would be so interesting.

LONDON RERUN HINTED FOR LOVE NEVER DIES

¡That's right! We just saw this report on Broadway World about Love Never Dies being brought again to London, according to Andrew Lloyd Webber, this rerun is being planned for late 2013 or earlier 2014. At last in London again!

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose many musicals include the long-running THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, has announced further plans for its sequel LOVE NEVER DIES. Lloyd Webber tells What's On Stage that he plans to bring the Australian version of LOVE NEVER DIES back to London "later this year or early next".

During the recording of an ITV special celebrating his 40-year career last night (17 March 2013), the composer revealed he is hoping to bring the show back either "later this year or early next".

INTERVIEW WITH WEST END'S GUSTAVE HARRY POLDEN

First of all, thanks for the opportunity to interview you. It is a pleasure for us and the whole community of fans the chance to ask you about yourself and this wonderful musical.

So... tell us a little about yourself.

How did you feel knowing you were going to play Gustave? Were you very nervous?

I was very excited- originally I was taken on as an understudy- but after rehearsals got offered the main part, which I was very pleased with as I really tried my best during rehearsals. I also was chosen to open for the new Gustaves which made me extremely proud. 

I was a little nervous on my opening night- but not half as much as my mum and dad! After that I was never nervous, not even when Lord Lloyd-Webber was watching!

What was the reaction of your family?

They've always been very supportive and confident in my ability. My mum, dad & brother and sisters were on holiday at my Grandma's in North Wales when I got the news that I was opening for the new Gustaves- they were so thrilled! My dad came back to London and treated me to a TGI Fridays! Then my mum came back too and they both watched my opening night. It was really emotional. 

How was it working with the cast?

The Love Never Dies cast were some of the most talented and amazing performers in the West End- and also some of the nicest! They were really kind to all of us boys and helped us to settle in and feel part of the team. I learned so much from them about working hard, having fun and always doing your best. I miss all of them so much. 

What were you most impressed to start rehearsals? And to make the first performance?

I was really impressed with the quality of singing- it was a couple of notches up from what I'd experienced in the past, although I'd worked with some excellent singers on Joseph, Oliver and Priscilla. This was different though- it's almost like an opera and the quality of singing blew me away- not just the principal parts either, there were amazing singers all through the cast. 

Got a story you can tell of rehearsals? How about some actuation?

The rehearsals were great fun- we rehearsed in some really cool locations around London. The other boys were all excellent singers so I knew I'd have to be at my best. We all got on really well which helped as it made the rehearsals really enjoyable. There were a couple of mishaps and funny moments, including scenery being knocked over and people, nearly falling into the orchestral pit but I won't mention any names! It was all good; we were really well prepared by some great vocal coaches and musical directors. 

What is your favourite part or song from the musical?

"Beauty Underneath" definitely. I LOVE that song, and being able to cut loose and go for it with Ramin and Tam was unbelievable- it was always that little bit different- Ramin especially would throw in different positions and moves and I loved that. 

The four-part "Devil takes the hindmost" is fantastic fun to sing as well- standing up a ladder singing with the Phantom, Raoul and Mme Giry- brilliant. 

Any role in mind as you would like to aspire to in the future?

I always wanted to play Oliver and Gavroche from Les Mis but I'm probably a bit tall now- oh well! As an adult I'd love to play the Phantom in the original or Love Never Dies- who knows what will happen in the future! 

Any message for your fans?

Anyone who has been to see and hear me perform, I hope you have enjoyed it and I would like to say thank you, thank you, thank you. I will soon be appearing in "Ragtime" at the famous fringe Landor Theatre- Louisa, who played understudy Mme Giry, is in it too. Check it out- VERY different from the Adelphi - 60 seater theatre! I'm looking forward to a new, and different experience.

¿Cómo te sentiste al saber que ibas a interpretar a Gustave? ¿Estabas muy nervioso?

¡Muy emocionado! Al principio me contrataron como suplente, pero después de los ensayos me ofrecieron el papel principal con el que estoy muy contento porque realmente di lo mejor que pude en los ensayos. También fui elegido para abrir el nuevo elenco de Gustaves, lo que me hizo sentir muy orgulloso.

Estaba un poco nervioso la noche del estreno, ¡pero ni la mitad de cómo lo estaban mi madre y mi padre! Después de eso, ya no me puse más nervioso, ¡ni siquiera cuando Lord Lloyd Webber estaba entre el público!

¿Cuál fue la reacción de tu familia?

Siempre han sido un gran apoyo y han confiado en mi habilidad. Mi madre, mi padre y mi hermano y hermanas estaban de vacaciones en casa de mi abuela en el norte de Gales cuando me dieron la noticia de que iba a actuar en la apertura del nuevo elenco de Gustaves. ¡Estaban tan emocionados! ¡Mi padre vino a Londres y me llevaron a un TGI Fridays*! Entonces mi madre volvió también y ambos vinieron a mi estreno. Fue muy emotivo.

*TGI Fridays es una cadena de restaurantes.

¿Cómo fue trabajar con el reparto?

Los miembros de Love Never Dies son algunos de los artistas más talentosos y sorprendentes del West End ¡y también algunos de los más simpáticos! Fueron muy amables con todos nosotros [los Gustaves] y nos ayudaron a instalarnos y sentirnos parte del equipo. He aprendido mucho de ellos sobre trabajar duro, divertirme y dar siempre lo mejor que pueda dar. ¡Los echo tanto de menos a todos!

¿Qué fue lo que más te impresionó al empezar los ensayos? ¿Y al hacer la primera actuación?

Me impresionó mucho la calidad del canto, era superior a lo que había estado acostumbrado, a pesar de que había trabajado con algunos cantantes excelentes en Joseph, Oliver y Priscilla. Esta vez fue diferente, es casi como una ópera y la calidad del canto me dejó impresionado, no sólo las partes principales, no. Había cantantes increíbles en todo el elenco.

¿Tienes alguna anécdota que puedas explicarnos de los ensayos? ¿Y de alguna actuación?

Los ensayos fueron muy divertidos, ensayamos en algunos lugares realmente geniales de Londres. Los otros chicos eran excelentes cantantes, así que sabía que tendría que sacar lo mejor de mí. Todos nos llevamos muy bien, lo que ayudó que los ensayos fueran realmente agradables.

Hubo un par de contratiempos y momentos divertidos, como un decorado que cayó y gente a punto de caer en la boca de la orquesta, ¡pero no daré ningún nombre! Todo estuvo bien, estábamos muy bien preparados por grandes entrenadores vocales y directores musicales.

¿Cuál es tu parte o canción favorita del musical?

Definitivamente "The Beauty Underneath". ME ENCANTA esta canción, y ser capaz de improvisar con Ramin y Tam era increíble, era siempre diferente. Ramin, especialmente, hacía diferentes movimientos y posiciones... y eso me encantaba. El cuarteto de "Devil Takes The Hindmost" es fantásticamente divertido, cantar subido a una escalera con el Fantasma, Raoul y Madame Giry… brillante.

¿Algún papel en mente al que te gustaría aspirar en el futuro?

Siempre he querido actuar como Oliver y Gavroche en Les Misérables, pero lo más probable es que ahora sea demasiado alto. ¡Ah, bueno! Como adulto me encantaría interpretar el Fantasma en el original [El Fantasma de la Ópera] o en Love Never Dies. ¡Quién sabe lo que pasará en el futuro!

¿Algún mensaje para tus fans?

Cualquiera que haya ido a verme y oírme actuar, espero que le haya gustado y me gustaría decirle: Gracias, gracias, gracias. Pronto apareceré en Ragtime en el famoso Landor Theatre-Louisa, dónde quien interpretó a Madame Giry como suplente estará también. Compruébalo tu mismo, es MUY diferente al Adelphi Theatre – ¡60 asientos! Estoy buscando una experiencia nueva y diferente.

WEST END LAST PERFORMANCE

On August 27th, it took place the last performance of Love Never Dies. The reception was fantastic, and there was such a standing ovation that the actors and musics had to stop several times to the applause. We share with you some of Love Never Dies' tweets, from @loveneverdies. When the performance ended, Andrew Lloyd Webber told the audience that Love Never Dies was a fantastic musical, he assured us that the musical would be back some day and he remembered to us aseguró that, in fact, @loveneverdies.

La recepción y ovación del público fue fantástica, teniendo que parar el musical repetidas veces para recibir los aplausos. RAMIN KARIMLOO PERFORMS TILL I HEAR YOU SING AT THE WEST END LIVE

June again! Time for West End Live, as it's celebrated every year in London. Ramin Karimloo represented Love Never Dies singing Till I Hear You Sing; this year, in Trafalgar Square. Ramin showed his best with this song and, though the rain started falling in the middle of his acting, the audience didn't seem to bother as they were all amazed by his astonishing performance.

Ya estamos en Junio de nuevo y como todos los años se ha celebrado el West End Live. Ramin Karimloo ha representado a Love Never Dies cantando Till I Hear You Sing. Este año, la celebración ha tenido lugar en Trafalgar Square (Londres). Ramin ha sacado lo mejor de su voz en esta canción y aunque la lluvia empezó a caer en media actuación, al público no pareció molestarle, ya que estaban todos maravillados por su asombrosa actuación.

LOVE NEVER DIES TO CLOSE IN THE WEST END

After some distressing rumors days about Love Never Dies closure in London, we can now assure you that these are 100% true. The last performance will be held on August 27th, this year.

As well as the Australian production thrives and works fine, Love Never Die will enjoy some productions in other countries and, hopefully, on Broadway for the first time. Once the musical achieves popularity around those other cities, Love Never Dies will reopen in the West End. If you want to know more about it, don't forget to check our facebook page, where fans are talking about this sudden closure and new info is going to be updated as it's published on the musical's official sites. The one thing we can do now for sure is to give support to Love Never Dies and take care of the Australian production. Together we can make Love Never Dies return again to London and flourish as it deserves!

Because, if there is something we are utterly certain of, is that love never dies.

The next April 21st will be held, on its fourth year, the West End Eurovision. In this event, West End musicals compete between them with short videos about each musical at the Piccadilly Theatre. Love Never Dies is participating with this short with Ramin Karimloo (Phantom) and David Thaxton (Raoul).

WEST END CAST CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT

Love Never Dies has been recently nominated in 7 main categories for the Laurence Olivier Awards 2011: Best acting in a supporting role (Summer Strallen), Best lighting design, Best scenography and Best Costume Design. It also received two WhatsOnStage.com awards, where Ramin Karimloo won as Best Actor in a musical and Joseph Millson won as Best Supporting Role in a Musical. After de redirection and the new show changes, Love Never Dies announces its new cast.

Love Never Dies tickets can be preordered until January 2012. The new cast premiere will be on March 7th at the Adelphi Theatre.

LOV ENEVER DIES AT THE FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT GALA

Sierra Boggess (Christine) and Tam Mutu (The Phantom) give us an exclusive look backstage to the BBC studios as they get ready to record Friday Night is Music Night, a program that was broadcasted yesterday at 8 p.m. on BBC Radio2.

Tam Mutu started singing Till I Hear You Sing, followed by The Coney Island Waltz instrumental. Sierra sang Look With Your Heart and then both performed Beneath a Moonless Sky and Once Upon Another Time. To end the night, Sierra sang the main theme, Love Never Dies. FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT

Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo will attend together to Friday Night is Music Night on Friday 17th December with BBC Orchestra. The program will be directed by Simon Lee, with a music selection about Masked Men on theatre and cinema. 

The program includes music from Korngold's Robin Hood, Rossini's Guillermo Tell, Verdi and Danny Elfman's Batman and Spiderman. Andrew Lloyd Webber will be there representing The Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies.

UPDATE: It was Tam Mutu, Ramin's cover Phantom, who performed with Sierra Boggess in the event, due to some schedule issues involving Ramin Karimloo.
